The Inner Emotional Home is not defined by a specific architectural style, but rather by its ability to evoke a sense of calmness and belonging. The designers believe that residential spaces should be characterized by tolerance and forgiveness, allowing the special history of a family to be seen and felt within its walls. By creating a high level of tolerance in the space, the Inner Emotional Home becomes a vessel of life, providing a haven for those who have experienced much in life.
One of the key features of the Inner Emotional Home is the remodelling of the space to create a more open and interactive living environment. The original closed stairs were replaced with suspending stairs, connecting the yard, living room, dining room, kitchen, tearoom, and the second floor. This design choice not only enhances the interactions between different areas of the home but also fosters a closer relationship between the inhabitants, their home, and nature.
The dining area of the Inner Emotional Home serves as a hub for public activities, combining the functions of a kitchen, breakfast table, dining room, and tearoom into one open and interactive space. This design approach encourages social interactions and creates a sense of togetherness within the home.
The Inner Emotional Home spans 280 square meters and was completed in November 2020. The project, which started in August 2019, presented several challenges for the designers. The house had old, slightly deformed walls, and some areas had low ceiling heights. Overcoming these obstacles required careful planning and design solutions to create an open and inviting space while preserving the original character of the residence.
The Inner Emotional Home has been recognized for its outstanding design and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious accolade is given to designs that demonstrate excellence in both aesthetics and functionality, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The Inner Emotional Home stands as a testament to the designers' ability to create a warm and emotional residential environment that brings life back to its essence.
With the Inner Emotional Home, Zhuangzhi Liu and Yichen Shen have reimagined the concept of residential space, emphasizing the importance of emotional connection and tranquility.
